Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida was born in 1982 in Luanda, Angola, and grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, where she now lives and works. She has written a dissertation on literary theory, published seven novels and three collections of essays, and writes regular columns for Portuguese and Brazilian newspapers. She is also an advisor to Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on human rights, equal opportunities and non-discrimination. Her sixth novel “A Visão das Plantas” (Relógio D'Água, Lisboa 2019) will be published under the title “Im Auge der Pflanzen” (In the Eye of the Plants) on 14 February 2022 in German translation by Unionsverlag.
